Clifton’s Pacific Seas cafeteria


After a Hawaii vacation, owner Clifford Clinton remodeled his first cafeteria in Los Angeles to the Pacific Seas theme shown above. An artificial jungle theme inside and out included a rain forest complete with rain every 20 minutes. He went on to open more themed cafeteria restaurants. Clinton felt a social responsibility to not charge customers who could not afford to pay and he also avidly pursued corruption in the city. See his fascinating story here:
